5 Reasons You Should Be Blogging For Your Business.
I love the puzzle that is SEO! Seach Engine optimisation is this puzzle Google gives us on how to get our pages ranking above everyone else’s. This is the challenge we set ourselves every day when we wake up. To solve this puzzle & be better than everyone else at it. It’s a competition! A race, but it’s not a 5k sprint. It’s an Ultramarathon that can take months or even years to finish. The problem is there is no finish line, only a new start line with a new mountain to climb as Google adjusts their Algorithm and publishes new updates. Here are my 5 Reasons You Should Be Blogging For Your Business.
I’ve used blogging massively in my content strategy and it really is a great way for you to grow your brand on a very small budget. The thing I love about it is that it really levels the playing field. If you have your own website or blog and it’s set up properly you really can compete with the industry leaders. You can rank right alongside them or even above them.
1: Blogging helps you drive traffic to your website.
Blogs can be shared on social media.
Website owners these days make it incredibly easy to share their articles on social media. Even at the bottom of this blog, you will find an endless amount of social share buttons. This is one of the most common ways you can get more traffic to your blog.
Blogs can be found on search engines.
By simply doing a Google or Bing search for any keyword or topic you will find a mountain of articles dedicated to that topic. Without writing content and gaining links your product, service or story won’t be found by searchers.
Blogs can be found via social media.
In this modern age of Social Media and Advertising its even easier now to be found on social media. Once you share your Blog on Social you can easily create an add or Boost for that post. If you’ve chosen Facebook as your source for the advertising
2: Blogging helps to convert traffic into leads.
Convert traffic into leads
Studies have shown that most of the time customers do not buy on the first visit to your website. In fact, on average 99% of visitors leave websites on the first visit. It’s your job therefore to track who visits. If they aren’t buying anything potentially you are still paying for that person to come to your website. Therefore, if at all possible you need to try and get some information out of that visitor. Perhaps its as little as an email address through a Subscribe button strategically placed throughout the website.
Get visitors to SUBSCRIBE
Hubspot as seen below in the middle image also uses this tactic very nicely as the Subscribe button is front and center when you visit their website. It actually takes up as much real estate as the blog articles and other content displayed.
Offer FREE downloads, E-books or samples in exchange for an Email Address
There are other ways to get people information and studies now show offering some sort of E-book, sample download or guide in exchange for an email address converts a lot higher than simply asking for people to subscribe to your newsletter. Other options could be a video series, free trial or product sample.
3: Blogging establishes authority with readers and with Google.
Let’s use an example of Ridgewallet.com VS Bellroy.com. I personally recently started searching online for a new wallet. I hated how my ( Fossil ) leather wallet was so huge in my pocket and the cards were hard to get out as they were so tightly packed. Not to mention it was impossible to put cash in it as the magnet that held it in was so weak it could barely hold 1 $1 bill. So the search started and my first search term in Google was MINIMALIST WALLETS 2017 AND THESE SEARCH RESULTS CAME UP.
As you can see in the Enriched Snippet above the top bullet point is the Ridge Wallet. Unfortunately, this link, believe it or not, lead me to an article that made no mention of the Ridge Wallet. So I did some more searching and typed in SLIM LEATHER WALLETS. Here are the results of that search.
What we see in this screenshot is a very different and much more effective SEO & SEM Strategy. Bellroy not only has ads putting them on the top of the page but they also have superb SEO placement on the page. Their home page is ranked in the top 3 of Search Engine Rankings on Google. They’re also smart in their writing strategy. Their website has key components which help Google know exactly what they are and what they do.
4: Blogging drives long-term results.
I have experience with blogging as well with videos on YouTube that these two platforms can last years if they’re not challenged by competition. Even if there is competition as long as you keep that content updated it could easily last even longer. Tweets, Facebook posts & Instagram images are gone within hours but blogs last a lifetime. get blogging today.
5: Blogging is an easy way to publish fresh content regularly
Blogging is a great way to publish new content & also a great starting point to spin that content into new forms of content. If you receive new products for your store that’s an opportunity to start writing about them. Perhaps its new shoes in your running shoe store. Perhaps its new scented candles or new sleep masks for your Etsy store. No matter what your product is its an opportunity to write some quality content about it. You can then spin that blog into a product description for your product page. Create a captivating product review on your YouTube channel and do some Instagram Stories or Facebook LIVE of you unboxing it showing people what they can expect when they receive their purchase from you. No matter how you spin it blogging is a great starting point for the SEO of your new product or service.
